Iran wants Russia to fulfill shipment of S-300

Iranian Defense Minister General Brigadier Ahmad Vahidi said at the
international helicopter exhibition in Iran that the uncompleted deal
on shipment of Russian S-300 missile complexes will not change the
defense strategy of Tehran or the future of its military potential,
RBK says.

He noted that Russia does not want to have the reputation of a
government that unilaterally cancels deals. The general said that Iran
is developing its own long-range anti-air defense complexes, IRNA
reports.

In 2007 Moscow and Tehran concluded a deal. Russia was to provide Iran
with five S-300 complexes. The deal was worth approximately $800
million.

In summer 2010 the UN Security Council introduced new sanctions
against Iran, forbidding export of any defense technologies and arms
to the country. Russia said that the sanctions do not allow it to
fulfill the deal. Iran insists on a contrary point of view.
