United Russia will hold a session on November 15, and the Vedomosti
paper said, citing sources in the State Duma and the president"s
Administration, that at the session the party may dismiss the deputy
head of the State Duma committee for the CIS, Konstantin Zatulin.
The initiative is linked to Zatulin's conflicts with the authorities
of the CIS republics.
The newspaper said that in October, Zatulin spoke out against the
ruling Party of the Regions in Ukraine, supporting the Russian Union
party of Sergey Tsekov at the elections in Crimea. Zatulin became a
persona non-grata in Azerbaijan after he monitored the elections in
Nagorno-Karabakh.
Moreover, Zatulin is an old supporter of the former Moscow Mayor Yuri
Luzhkov. The closest supporters of Luzhkov have lost their positions
in the Moscow office of United Russia: Sergey Tsoy (press-service),
Leonid Bochin (environmental management), Vladimir Malyshkov (consumer
market), Alexander Ryabinin (Moscow control).
