Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is on a visit to Lebanon,
where he met his counterpart, Saad Hariri, TRT reports.
They signed a joint political declaration, involving establishment of
a free trade zone between the two countries and a council for
strategic cooperation. Erdogan said at a joint press-conference that
Turkey wishes to provide peace, stability and prosperity to Lebanon
and is satisfied with its interest in Turkey.
Concerning the new tensions between Syria and Lebanon, Erdogan said
that his country wants to clear suspicions in relations between the
two countries. Hariri emphasized that Erdogan’s visit plays an
important role in improving ties between Turkey and Lebanon and peace
in the region.
The Turkish prime minister will take part in opening a school built by
the Turkish agency for development and cooperation, after which he
will visit the Turkish military on their mission in Sur. Erdogan will
also meet leaders of the Lebanese political parties.
