According to the European Statistics Agency, trade turnover between
Iran and the European Union increased by 46% in the first 8 months of
2010 compared to the same period last year, reaching 17.15 billion
euros, Iran News reports, citing Fars.
Trade turnover between Iran and the 27 EU-members in the first months
of 2009 was 11.77 billion euros.
Such an increase took place under the conditions of the US sanctions
against Iran, which pressurize the US's European partners, hampering
their cooperation with Iran.
The EU has increased imports of Iranian products. In the first 8
months of 2009 it imported products worth 5.15 billion euros, while in
the same period in 2010 the indicator reached 9.53 billion euros, a
58% increase.
Crude oil is one of the main import products.
EU exports to Iran increased by 15%, amounting to 7.622 billion euros.
