A permanent anti-terrorism group is being created in the North Caucasus

A permanent anti-terrorism group is being created in the North Caucasus by order of Russian president Dmitri Medvedev. Various special service agencies will collaborate in the group, the PR center of Russia's FSB reported.

The group will be led by one of the heads of the Inquiry Committee of the Prosecutor's office, the FSB web site says, reports RIA NOVOSTI.

The group is being created to analyse the results of investigations carried out by a range of security agencies into various terrorist incidents and to coordinate their collaboration.

'The sphere of competence of the group will be incidents of terrorist attacks, attempts upon the lives of members of law-enforcement agencies, attempts upon the lives of officials and illegal trade in weapons and explosive materials' - it was stated in a press release.

The commission was created as the result of a meeting which took place directly after the double terrorist attack in Kizlyar, in which 12 people were killed.

The group is to be created by April 19th. The director of the FSB and the Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev have been appointed responsible for the creation of the group.

The president also charged Yuri Chayka, the prosecutor-general, and Sergey Naryshkin, the head of presidential administration, with bringing forward changes in the law concerning enforcement of criminal responsibility for collaboration with terrorists.
