A commission of the Russian Prosecutor General has uncovered
violations made by police and investigation teams in Krasnodar
Territory and demanded the reopening of approximately 250 criminal
cases and the opening of 10 cases on missing citizens, RIA Novosti
reports, citing the organisation's press-service.
Over 1,500 investigative decisions were annulled. 88 refusals to open
criminal cases were considered illegal.
12 burned bodies with stab wounds were found at a farmer’s house on
November 5. They include both owners of the house, Server and Galina
Ametovs, their 19-year old daughter Yelena and granddaughter Amira.
Their neighbours Natalya Kasyanova and their 14-year old son Paul,
guests from Rostov-on-Don - businessman Vladimir Mironenko, his wife
Marina, their two daughters Alena and Irina and their parents Victor
and Lidia Ignatenko were found dead. The assailants attempted to burn
the house down.
8 suspects were charged, including the suspected organizer of the
incident Sergey Tsapka and his relative Sergey Tsepovyaz, who is a
regional deputy. Two other suspects are on the wanted list.
The locals say that the gang has been operating in the village of
Kushevskaya for many years and that the local police have not been
reacting to the complaints of the citizens.
12-year-old criminal cases have already been reopened. The Prosecutor
General’s commission is inspecting the quality of work of the local
police and authorities. The investigation believes that the
indifference of the police may be a cause of the tragedy.
