Ahmedinejad hopeful about nuclear talks

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad said he is hopeful about the nuclear talks being carried out with the 5 permanent members of the Security Council plus Germany, TRT TV channel reports.

In an interview with Iran's state television, President Ahmedinejad said "I carefully studied the minutes of the talks in Geneva. I saw positive points. The time has come to turn the policy of confrontation to one of cooperation."

Ahmedinejad has staunchly defended Iran's right to nuclear development, and his remarks on Saturday could indicate that Tehran is willing to discuss international concerns over its nuclear program.

The talks in Geneva concluded with the parties agreeing to reconvene early next year in Istanbul.
