Leaders of Iranian opposition forbidden from leaving country

Musa Gurbani, a member of the Legal Commission of the Iranian Parliament, expressed his opinion on the issue of granting political asylum to the leaders of the Iranian opposition by the British government, Trend reports.

A few days ago, the British ambassador to Iran, Simon Gass, spoke about the possibility of granting political asylum to leaders of the Iranian opposition. This statement caused protests on the part of Iranian officials, who accused the UK of escalating political tensions within the country.

On December 19, the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian parliament approved a bill requiring a complete rupture of ties with the UK, including political, cultural and economic relations. This bill will soon be discussed in the Iranian parliament.

"Provocateurs (opposition leaders) are banned from leaving the country. Even if they get shelter, they cannot leave the country," Gurbani said.

Those who spoke against are known as "muharib". According to articles 183-196 of the Iranian Constitution, all those who oppose Allah, the Prophet and the Islamic government must suffer exile or the death penalty.
