Burjanadze says visited Russia to protect Georgian interests

The leader of the Democratic Movement - United Georgia opposition party Nino Burjanadze said on Friday she made her trip to Moscow “not to make a fuss, but to assist the process of settlement of Georgian-Russian relations."

"I came to Russia to protect interests of Georgia and Georgians. Big words and anti-Russian hysteria, which are greatly loved by the incumbent Georgian authorities, shut all the doors to a real settlement of our country's problems by means of negotiations with Russia,” the former speaker of the Georgian parliament said during an interview with Georgian television.

Burjanadze noted that "there are no topics that cannot be discussed with Russia in search of ways of normalizing relationship between the two countries with observance of Georgian interests and with mutual respect" ITAR-TASS reported.
