Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is to pay an official visit to Greece on May 14, reports Ria Novosti, citing the Greek Foreign Ministry.
Erdogan will be accompanied by 10 ministers, including the economic, foreign affairs, home affairs, European affairs and energy ministers.
Despite the fact that both countries are NATO members, a number of bilateral issues remain fraught with tension. For example, the two states have territorial disputes over some Aegean areas and islands, as well as over Cyprus, which remains split into two parts. There are
also some problems concerning the rights of the Turkish minority living in northern Greece.
Erdogan's visit is therefore expected to be aimed at strengthening relations.
