Georgia to receive financial aid from the USA

Six countries, including Georgia, will receive financial aid from the USA for their participation in the Afghan mission. $50 million will be given to Georgia, Lithuania, Latvia, Croatia, Estonia and Hungary. The money is earmarked for maintenance of divisions in the territory of Afghanistan. Altogether, these six countries have sent 1300 troops to Afghanistan. The purpose of the financial aid is to provide an incentive to the servicemen participating in the mission.

"It's not a bribe, but an attempt to attract partners, so that their contribution to the common cause is significant. That's why we are helping those members of the alliance that lack the money to achieve this goal," said Pentagon spokesman Rick Nelson, an expert on counterterrorism, Georgia Online reports.

In this case, Georgia is the only non-NATO state receiving assistance from the USA. The sum of money will be divided in equal parts between Georgia, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Croatia and Hungary.
