Two earthquakes with a magnitude of 4.9 and 5.8 have occured in
south-east Iran with an interval of 30 minutes, the US Geological
Survey reports.
The first earthquake started 100 km south-east of Bam in Kerman
Province at 10.32 (local time). The earthquake epicentre was 54.8 km
deep.
The second earthquake happened 120 km south-east of Bam at a depth of
17.3 km at 12.08 (local time).
There is no information on victims and damage.
FARS reports, citing the Institute of Geophysics at Tehran University,
that there were three earthquakes with a magnitude of 5.1, 4.0 and 3.1
relatively. They were registered at 10.32, 10.48 and 11.14 (local
time)

Earthquakes with a magnitude of 7.0 happens once in 10 years. Over
31,000 people died and approximately 42,000 were injured in Bam in
December 2003 in an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3. The ancient
city of Bam and its fortress were destroyed.
