Egyptian president gives orders to new ministers

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has ordered the government to restore
peace and stability, cope with unemployment, open new workplaces and
fight corruption, national television said.


Last Friday, Mubarak dismissed the government. He ordered the former
Minister of Civilian Aviation Ahmed Shafik to form the new Cabinet.


The former head of the IAEA Muhammed ElBaradei, who was among the
protesters in the center of Cairo, said that the authorities cannot
stop the protests.


The US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton urged Hosni Mubarak to hold
free and fair elections, RBC reports. She noted that entrance of
military forces into cities is a sign of violations of the right for
peaceful protests. Clinton urged the authorities to stop marauders.

Hillary Clinton said that the USA will not reduce economic support for
Egypt, which is equivalent to $1.5 billion. Most of the support goes
to the armed forces.


Hosni Mubarak has been in power for almost 30 years. He has always
been viewed by Washington as a partner in the Middle East. Egypt was
the first Arabic state to conclude a peace agreement with Israel and
Cairo plays an important role in resolving the Israeli-Palestinian
conflict.


The disorder in Egypt caused the Suez Canal to close for freight
vessels carrying oil. The price for futures for oil at the New York
exchange rose by $3.70.


13 people have died in fights at Suez. Closing of the Suez Canal may
cause oil prices to reach $100 per barrel, Fox News reports.


The disorders in Egypt started on January 25. The protesters demand
Hosni Mubarak, who has been at power for 30 years, to resign and
economic and political reforms to be held. Al Jazeera reported that at
least 150 people died and over 4,000 were injured.


A member of Azerbaijani embassy in Egypt Nidzhat Godzhayev died at
disorders in Cairo on Saturday, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Egypt
Shakhin Abdullayev said, Trend reports.
