The conference was organized by non-commercial organizations such as the Caucasus Cooperation and the Institute of Eurasian Studies. It will be held on April 28-29.
Over 100 people will be involved, including heads of federal, regional and foreign state structures, scientists, post-graduates, delegates of public youth organizations, search groups and veterans of the Great Patriotic War.
Special reports will be made on the role of natives from the North Caucasus and Trans-Caucasus in the war and the importance of uniting against extremism, terrorism and nationalism today.
Officials from the Russian presidential administration, the Federal Council, authority structures, science and expert public of North Ossetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Dagestan, Chechnya, Ingushetia, Karachay-Cherkessia, Adygeya, Rostov Region, Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories will attend the conference.
Officials from Georgia, Armenia, Abkhazia, Azerbaijan and South Ossetia announced their plans to arrive.
Participants of the conference will lay flowers to the Glory Memorial in Vladikavkaz, visit the former frontline of Vladikavkaz, Stela of the Soldier’s Glory of the City, memorial to Peter Barbashov, Gazdanov brothers, school N1 and the Memorial Cemetery - the City of Angels - of Beslan, where they will lay flowers to victims of the terrorist attack of September 2004.
Leader of North Ossetia Taymuraz Mamsurov sent a letter of greeting to the conference earlier, in which he recalled the fact that the fascists were stopped here in November 1942. The battle in the area predetermined the victory at Stalingrad and contributed to the Victory of May 9, 1945.
