Over 120 people were killed in an earthquake equivalent to 5.7 points in western Turkey on Thursday, RIA Novosti reports.
Earlier reports said 80 people were injured.
The earthquake took place in the area of the village of Simav in Kutahya Province. People could feel it in Istanbul. Over 50 earthquakes were registered by Friday 06.00, some with a magnitude of 4.6.
Witnesses say that the quake was strong enough to break house windows.
Simav is suffering a power cut. Some houses have collapsed. Many people have spent the night on the streets. Rescuers said that they are building a tent camp for them. Another earthquake took place at 11.00.
The governor of Kutahya said 3 people died, the ecology minister said two died.
Seismologists of Bosphorus University say that more earthquakes with a magnitude of 4-4.5 may occur. The director of the university's seismology service, Meral Ozel, said that 10 more people may be found dead.
Earthquakes in Turkey are common. The biggest one was registered in 1999. It had a magnitude of 7.4 and killed over 18,000 people.
