Russian diplomatic office in North Caucasus to move to Pyatigorsk

Pyatigorsk Mayor Lev Travnev said that the office of the Russian
plenipotentiary presidential envoy to the North Caucasian Federal
District will move from its current temporary residence in Yessentuki
to Pyatigorsk by the end of 2011, RIA Novosti reports.

Dmitry Medvedev established the North Caucasus District on January 19.
He appointed Vice-Premier Alexander Khloponin, who was the Governor of
Krasnodar Territory, as head of the district. The new district was
formed from Dagestan, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria,
Karachay-Cherkessia, North Ossetia, Chechnya and Stavropol Territory
(former parts of the Southern Federal District). Pyatigorsk is the
center.

It was announced in March 2010 that the district’s office was to stay
at Yessentuki for 1-2 years.

Moving of the office will cause certain problems. Some streets will be
blocked for security.
