Iran to pay $300 per month to unemployed youth

The public commission of the Iranian Parliament has passed a project
on youth unemployment benefits. Unemployed young people will receive
$300 per month, chairman of the commission Hadi Mugaddasi said,
Shomalnews.com reports.

The project will allow clarification of the real figures of unemployed
youth and help employment. However, young people who received payments
will return them within 50 months after employment.

Official unemployment in Iran is at about 14.6%, while some experts say 30%.
The development plan for 2005-2025 is to reduce the unemployment level
to 8%. President Mohammed Khatemi ruled in 1997-2005 and opened
600,000 workplaces, on the background of a 5% economic growth.

Incumbent President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that 1.6 million
workplaces opened in the last year and 2.5 million will open since
March 21.
