A passenger plane with a Russian hockey team aboard crashed in central Russia on Wednesday. At least 36 people were killed in the accident, Trend cites the Interfax news agency.
Officials at Russia's state aviation agency Rosaviatsia said the Yak-42 aircraft had just taken off from an airport near the central
Russian city of Yaroslavl, when it suddenly veered to the left and then struck the ground some 500 metres from the airport.
Members of the Russian First Division hockey team Lokomotiv Yaroslavl had been aboard the flight and team members were among the dead, a statement on the team website said.
Victims reportedly included players from Sweden, Poland, Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Germany, Belarus and Latvia.
