The Rustavi-2 TV channel has broadcast a video made at the Grand Hotel in Vienna, in which former Georgian Border Police Chief Badri Bitsadze, his son, and wife – former Speaker of Parliament Nino Burjanadze - can be seen, News Georgia reports.
Bitsadze was sentenced at the Tbilisi City Court to 5.5 years of prison on August 19. He was accused of using violence against law-enforcers and the authorities.
Earlier reports said that Bitsadze was in Russia.
The People’s Assembly headed by Burjanadze held protests in the center of Tbilisi on May 26. The protests continued for five days. The protesters demanded Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili's resignation, they also wanted to ruin a military parade held on that day.
The police issued audio and video recordings of a conversation between leaders of the People’s Assembly and confirmations of preparations to start provocations.
Former General Giya Uchava was questioned on the topic. Bitsadze’s location was unknown after the crackdown on May 26.
