Today Armenian Deputy Minister of Education and Science Manuk
Mkrtchyan presented the first results of the education reform to the
Russian delegation that arrived in Yerevan to participate in an
international conference "Education, Science and Economics in
Universities: The integration of the educational environment," reports
"News-Armenia".
Mkrtchyan noted the importance of holding the conference in Armenia
because it should contribute to the formation of a unified educational
content.
He also mentioned the new scheme of appointing the school directors.
"According to Armenian law, to become a director of secondary school a
candidate must have a certificate issued by the Ministry," said the
official. According to Mkrtchyan, in addition to this in the next
five years all teachers must undergo retraining in the state program.
"The aim of these reforms is to improve education in our country," he
said.
The representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science also
expressed interest the introduction of the chess classes in Armenian
secondary schools.
