The Sixth Eurasian media forum FEAM-2001 has finished in the Kazakh capital of Astana, RIA Novosti reports on Tuesday.
Among other issues, attendees of the event discussed the role of social networking in the 21st century media.
Ivan Zasursky, the head of the Internet Editors Association, said that a social network is a kind of phonebook that allows its owner to gain immediate access to any person.
At the same time, British scientist Baroness Susan Greenfield said that a social network damages the traditional system of communication between people, spoiling traditional forms of interaction.
Arman Sagatelyan, the head of the Armenian PR Specialists Association, admitted that a social network is similar to a medicine that can become a poison.
