North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-Il died in his train on December 17 at 8.30 am, aged 69, Interfax reports.
Medics say he died from a heart attack. An autopsy was held on December 18, confirming the diagnosis. The North Korean leader will be buried on December 28.
Kim Jong-Il was the head of North Korea, Secretary General of the Korean Workers’ Party, Supreme Commander of the Korean People’s Army, Chairman of the National Defense Commission, son of leader Kim-Il Sung.
Kim Jong-Il’s younger son, Kim Jong-un, has taken power. Korean President Choe Yong-rim cancelled all his plans after hearing the news. The military enforced border security. Functionaries announced an emergency council. No activity on the southern border was registered.
