Writer Eduard Bagirov detained in Moscow

Eduard Bagirov, an Azerbaijani blogger and writer, has been detained in Moscow at the request of the Moldavian police, despite Russia trying to get the writer released from detention in Kishinev for alleged participation in disorder in the city in 2009, RIA Novosti reports.

Bagirov, 1975, was arrested on the Petrovka Str. on January 31. He has been on the wanted list of the Byukan Sector of Kishinev since October 19, 2011 for organized crime and mass disorders.

Bagirov is suspected in organized crime in Kishinev in April 2009, when buildings of the Presidential Administration and parliament were attacked. The blogger started a hunger strike and spread messages with the help of Sergey Minayev, saying that he was being pressurized to give evidence on the chief political strategist of the Communist Party, Mark Tkachuk. The Russian police demanded his immediate release. Bagirov was put under home arrest. However, he escaped to Odessa in mid-October and then to Moscow. Observers said that his escape from home arrest was a major disappointment for Russian authorities.
