An agreement was signed in Rome on Georgian-Italian cooperation in the struggle against crime. The signing of the document took place during an official visit by the Georgian Interior Minister Vano Merabishvili to Italy where he met his Italian colleague Roberto Maroni, reports “Georgia online”.
The visit was made within the program of intensive meetings between the representatives of governments of the two countries in the first half of 2010, which started with the visits of Georgian Minister of Foreign Affairs Grigola Vashadze and vice-prime minister Georgy Baramidze to Rome.
During the visit of Merabishvili, the sides signed a bilateral agreement on cooperation in the struggle against crime, in particular organized crime, terrorism, human trafficking, money laundering, illegal migration and computer crimes.
The agreement facilitates the creation of such mechanisms as the exchange of information and the permanent updating of information.
