Chechnya is marking the Republic Day that was set by the first Chechen President, Akhmat-Haji Kadyrov, in 2002. Chechen Leader Ramzan Kadyrov congratulated the people, stressing consolidation as the main path towards peace and stability.
Kadyrov thanked the people for congratulation notes received on Twitter.
Ingush Leader Yunus-Bek Yevkurov sent a congratulation note to Chechnya, calling Chechens and Ingushetians brotherly nations.
The Chechen leader has recently announced the presence of documents proving that the Sunzhenskaya and part of the Malgobeksky Districts belong to Chechnya, not Ingushetia. Both republics have governmental commissions for settling territorial disputes. Kadyrov accused Yevkurov of disrespect towards the Chechens.
Magas, the capital of Ingushetia, hosted a meeting attended by Chechen Speaker Dukuvakha Abdurakhmanov and his Ingush counterpart Mukharbek Didigov. They discussed the Russian Lawmakers’ Council for Joint Legislative Initiatives, joint work at the Northern Caucasus Parliamentary Association and the Southern Russian Parliamentary Association.
They also talked about the federal law on the rehabilitation of repressed people, the bill on amendments to the Land Code of Russia and the closing of checkpoints on the administrative borders of Russian regions (an especially topical issue for the NCFD). Both officials agreed that the Chermensky Post causes most concerns due to frequent violations.
