The Investigative Committee of Russia has initiated a case against Mikhail Basharatyan, Deputy Dean for studies at one of the departments of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov, and Victor Baris, head of the sub-department for philosophy and political analysis of the Academy for Labour and Social Relations, spokesman of the committee Vladimir Markin said today.
The two teachers were caught receiving a bribe of 1 million rubles in exchange for allowing a student to successfully enter the university and defend his thesis, RIA Novosti reports.
Basharatyan was not a member of any thesis council of the university and could not be involved in the defense of any scientific papers.
A young man filed a note to the police of the South-Western District of Moscow on October 15, stating that it had been proposed that he pay €30,000 for successful studies at the university and defense of a scientific paper.
