Tbilisi hosts Russian-Georgian journalist school

Tbilisi is hosting the first meeting of leading Russian experts and scientists. For the first time since the August war of 2008 Russian experts and scientists have come to Georgia to discuss Russian-Georgian relations and the situation in the South Caucasus.

The second day of discussion showed how important such events are for cooperation between the two countries' media, exchange of experience and intellectual life.

This time the attendees of the event discussed complicated issues of relations between the authorities, business and media. All presentations were original and innovative.

Nikolay Silayev, director of the political section of the Expert Journal, Sergey Mikheyev, Director of the Center for Political Conjuncture, political analyst Nana Devdariani and Giya Saralidze, a representative of the Mayak radio station, took the floor.

According to Nikolay Silayev, the internet is great challenge for traditional media. The web grants unlimited freedom, but this freedom may lead to unprofessionalism and irresponsibility, Silayev believes.

Nana Devdariani hailed the Russian-Georgian school and said that such initiatives are very important for promoting bilateral cooperation and mutual understanding. "Such direct dialogue is very important," she says.
