The Supreme Court of Russia confirmed that the North Caucasus District Military Court will judge Ali Taziyev, leader of the Caucasus Emirate formation. Taziyev, nicknamed Magas, will remain under detention until June 9, RIA Novosti reports.
His detention was extended for the sake of safety of relatives of people involved in the case. Taziyev said that he had not studied the 30 tomes of his case.
His lawyer Tatyana Okushko said that the case may be passed to the Supreme Court of Ingushetia. Trial over Taziyev near Rostov-on-Don will be considered.
Taziyev is suspected of creating illegal armed formations, rebellion, illegal trafficking of weapons and ammo, banditism, terrorism, production of weapons, attacks on law enforcers. His gangs blew up a bus at the Nevinnomyssk Train Station in the Stavropol Territory in December 2007 (3 dead, 17 injured) and a police building in the Nazranovsky District of Ingushetia in August 2009 (21 dead, 289 injured). He is also suspected of attempting to assassinate Ingush Leader Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, killing two of his bodyguards, injuring one and Yevkurov himself.
