NCFD to find “missing” children

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said that the government demanded studies of the birth rate in the North Caucasian Federal District. He reminded about the stir up caused by a statement of Alexander Khloponin, Russian Vice Premier and Plenipotentiary Presidential Envoy to the NCFD, who had announced over 100,000 children missing, RIA Novosti reports.

The vice premier said that over 80,000 children had been born in 2012. About 250,000 left the federal district and the location of their children was uncertain. Executives are comparing data on children aged 7-15.

Location of over 20,000 children in Ingushetia and 11,000 in Karachay-Cherkessia was uncertain, Khloponin noted. He explained that a commission consisting of officials of the Russian Statistical Agency, registry offices, Ministry for Education and the Healthcare Ministry was formed to solve the problem.

Medvedev ordered the people responsible for data losses to be punished. He told Vice Premier Olga Golodets to monitor the process.
