The happiest people in the Russian population live in Dagestan, the
Leningrad Region and Krasnodar Territory, the study "Eurobarometer in
Russia" revealed.
The survey was conducted by the RANHiGS Sociological Research
Centre under the auspices of the President of Russia. A total of 10
regions of Russia took part and in each of these 600 respondents
interviewed.
According to the study, two regions in the Northern Caucasus are
among the top. 37% of respondents in Dagestan, 20% of the Leningrad
region, as well as 19% of Kuban said they are very happy.
The authors of the study concluded that the level of happiness does
not correspond with the economic and political conditions of life.
Thus, half of the people in Dagestan have an average monthly income
per family member of only about 5 thousand rubles, which is the lowest
in Russia. In addition, about 40% of the population negatively assess
the political changes that have occurred over the past five years, 38%
of people would like to go abroad or to send a child abroad, according
to RIA Novosti.
According to the poll results, the main factor determining the happiness
of the people is their social activity. The number of friends,
acquaintances and children, according to researchers, has twice as strong an
influence on the level of happiness than income.
