The militants detained in the Moscow Region were part of the Islamic Party of Turkestan and were trained in Afghanistan where they had confronted NATO forces, RIA Novosti reports.
Their gang committed crimes in the Volga Region. They moved to the Afghan-Pakistani zone in 2010 to get military training.
The militants were studying explosives and were involved in attacks on NATO troops. They moved to Russia and became residents of Orekhovo-Zuyevo.
FSB officers detained two militants, one of them being Amerkhanov, planning terrorist attacks for the Victory Day in Moscow, Interfax reports.
