A case of bubonic plague with a fatal outcome has been registered in Kyrgyzstan. In connection to this, Kazakhstan is tightening control over people arriving from the neighboring country.
Last Thursday in the Ak-Sui territorial hospital (Issyk-Kul region) a 15-year-old with signs of bubonic plague was accepted. On the evening of the same day the boy died, the diagnosis was confirmed three days later. 105 people who have had contact with the sick child, including the physicians, are in isolation and receiving preventative treatment.
"Given that plague is a particularly dangerous airborne infection, which is also transmitted through contact and insect bites, the Ministry of Health encourages citizens to refrain from any trips (business, travel, etc.) to Kyrgyzstan until the epidemiological situation is stabilized," the press service of the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan announced, Novosti-Kazakhstan reports.
