In September 2010 the education centers of the Stavropol Territory will start forming a new legal institution. The first districts to try out the new system will be the city of Georgiyevsk and the Shpakov region, Yuga.ru reports.
The ombudsmen will be elected by the students. The ombudsmen will consult teenagers about legal issues and help them protect their interests, the ombudsman for children of the governor of the Stavropol Territory, Svetlana Adamenko, said.
According to the information from the press-service of the agency of state information policy of the government of the territory, all Shpakov and Georgiyevsk schools will have special mail boxes, where children can put their letters to the ombudsman. The letters will be analyzed every month by a conflict commission, consisting of the best school students, with the presence of the ombudsman.
Moreover, on September 1st all schools will have civil rights lessons. There has already been operating a school of rights' knowledge in Stavropol Territory or children and teenagers, initiated by the ombudsman, called ‘Pravoznayka’. Lawyers and psychologists visited the Shpakov and Trunov regions and held lessons for senior high school students. They learned about the Children Rights Convention of UN and their rights, obligations and responsibilities.
