Armenian higher education centers lose licenses

Seven Armenian higher education centers have ceased operating. According to News Armenia, citing the press-service of the Armenian Ministry of Education and Science, the decision was made at a closed vote of the Licensing Commission for education programs on Thursday, as a result of inspections.


The commission decided to close the Armenian-Russian humanitarian institute, the juridical institute, Armavir university, the international university of Aria, the ‘Vanevan’ institute, ‘Kavendish’ university and Artashat university.


The commission also decided to halt the work of 6 non-state universities such as the ‘Management’ university of Yerevan, ‘Galik’ university, the public Armenian university of Loris Kalashyan, the economic-legal university of Avetik Mkrtchyan, the Armenian institute of economics, ecology and law and the Yerevan university of arts.


Three more universities were given warnings and need to eliminate flaws. They are the university of management and information technologies of Yerevan, the humanitarian institute of Yerevan and the ‘Institute of the Caucasus’ Fund.

The Ministry of Education will give the students of those higher education centers the right to continue their education in different state and non-state higher education centers.


According to the ministry, there are 17 state and 55 non-state higher education centers in Armenia, with 3 universitites based on international agreements and 8 branches of foreign higher education centers.
