A 15-year-old resident of Verkhnevolzhye accused of terrorism is to stand trial at the Tver Regional Court in central Russia. Nina Tumanova, spokeswoman of the court, added that the trial will be closed.
The young man converted to Islam at the age of 13. He became a follower of Alexander Tikhomirov, organizer of the Nevsky Express blast in the Bologovsky District of the Tver Region in November 2009. 27 people were killed and over 150 injured in the attack.
The suspect learned to make bombs on the Internet. He made a bomb equivalent to 2kg of TNT filled with projectiles. He criticized the police and was planning to blow up a police station, then move to Dagestan and become a militant.
The police checked his house and found explosives, chemicals, texts and videos of radical terrorists downloaded from the Internet, addresses of police officers, names of police authorities of the region. He possessed videos of militants executing Russian soldiers and police officers, investigators say.
