Georgy Gongadze, a journalist of the Ukrainskaya Pravda paper killed on September 17, 2000, will be buried this year.
His headless body was found in the Tarashansky Forest, about 100km away from Kiev, on November 2, 2000. President Victor Yushchenko said in 2005 that the journalist’s murder case was solved and high-ranking police officers suspected of his murder admitted guilt.
Police General Alexey Pukach was considered the killer of Gongadze. The people hiring him for the murder have not been identified. Alexander Moroz, leader of the Ukrainian Socialist Party, accuses Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma of involvement in the murder.
