The case on a Buynaksk alcohol trader suspected of organizing blasts at shops in Dagestan has been delivered to the court. According to investigators, the trader joined a militant sabotage group operating in the Buynaksk District in early 2011, RIA Novosti reports.
The suspect was allegedly transporting militants, providing them with housing, studying explosives, taking part in sabotage operations, using guns. Investigators say that he made three bombs in June and July 2012 and organized blasts at ships in Buynaksk.
The trader will be on trial for being a member of an illegal armed formation and gang, property damage, trafficking of weapons and production of explosives.
Alcohol shops have become a wide-spread business in Dagestan. Militants attacking such stores motivate their actions as an effort to fight against alcohol, since Islam forbids alcohol drinks. The police say that the true reason for such attacks is the refusal of businessmen to pay militants off.
Militants activated two bombs at two alcohol ships in Makhachkala on October 30. Two people died and 15 were injured.
