Details and the schedule of a national program against human trafficking for 2010-2012 were confirmed today at a session of the Armenian government, Novosti Armenia reports.
Armenian deputy foreign minister Shavarsh Kocharyan said that the Finance Ministry and other organs would take the program into account when planning the state budget, and that the vice-premier would hold a special council twice a year to report on its progress.
Kocharyan noted that similar initiatives had been going on in the country since 2002. The national anti-trafficking program will involve modernisation of legislation in the sphere, reaching international agreements, signing of conventions on the issue, carrying out work on prevention of trafficking, informing the populace, tough measures to combat child trafficking, help for victims of the trade and development of international cooperation.
