The number of Russians who believe that the current situation in the North Caucasus is stable increased in 2014, a poll conducted by the independent polling centre Levada shows.
Some 41 percent of Russians believe the situation in the region is stable and 43 percent think it is tense, while in January the figures were 18 percent and 60 percent respectively. Only 12 percent of Russians believe the situation in the region is likely to change for the worse, while at the beginning of the year the figure was 21 percent.
