Pupils from Turkic countries to compete in science

The first School Olympiad of the Turkic World has started at Osmangazi University in Turkey’s Eskisehir. The head of the International Voluntary Society of Pupils, Ibragim Erdogan, made a speech at the opening, Trend reports.

4th to 8th graders from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Crimea, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Altai (Russia), Kosovo, Macedonia, Moldova, Northern Cyprus, Albania, East Turkestan (China) and Bashkortostan (Russia) will demonstrate their ideas and models in Eskisehir.

Eskisehir's head, Gungor Azim Tuna, said that about a thousand projects were presented for the Olympiad. Only 100 of them were selected. The Olympiad will stimulate interest of pupils in science, helping make Nobel Prize winners from them.

Their projects will be demonstrated at an exhibition on June 4-6. Winners will receive awards on June 7. A set of films called “Little Hands, Big Deeds” about the projects will be demonstrated on Turkey’s TRT Avaz.
