Ilya Rogachev, the director of the Department for New Challenges and Threats of the Russian Foreign Ministry, has stated that Russian intelligence agents had warned Washington about the threats from Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnayev beforehand, RIA Novosti reports.
The brothers are suspected of organizing the Boston Marathon blast on April 15, 2013. Three people were killed and over 200 injured in the tragedy. Dzhokhar was detained on April 20. His brother Tamerlan was killed in a shootout with the police on April 19. 30 charges were pressed against Dhokhar. 17 of them mean capital punishment.
Rogachev said that the U.S. should have paid more attention to warnings from the Russian agents. In his words, the blast in Boston a year ago reflected mistrust between the Russian and U.S. intelligence services.
