The main celebrations took place at the Moscow Cathedral Mosque. Ravil Gaynutdin, the head of the Muslim Administration of the European Part of Russia, was preaching there.

Eid al-Fitr in Azerbaijan was marked at the Taza Pir and the Ajdarbey mosques. It is a state holiday in the country, so July 28-29 will be days off.
Gaynutdin said at the Moscow Cathedral Mosque that Russian Muslims were praying for the prosperity of the country and peace all over the world. He expressed hope that Allah will hear their prayers.
