Alexey Mayorov, the head of the Moscow department for regional security and corruption control, said that the number of foreigners registered in the city since the start of the year exceeded the same period in 2013 by 49.9%, making a total of over 2.1 million people, Interfax reports.
Over 1.2 million migrants arrived in Moscow to find a job.
According to the Central Database of the Russian Federal Migration Service, Moscow had over 1.5 million foreigners in the first nine months this year. Over 80% of them did not need visas to enter. Half of them come from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Ukraine. Over 41,000 Chinese, 23,000 Turkish and over 14,000 German citizens arrived in Moscow this year.
