The head of the FMS of Russia, Konstantin Romodanovsky, stated that more than a million foreigners could be forbidden from entering the country for a period of 10 years, due to violation of terms of their legal stay in Russia. This is required by amendments to the law, which will begin operating on January 10th.
“Our information system shows that at the moment almost 3 million foreign citizens who exceeded the period of their legal stay (90 days) significantly,” Romodanovsky stressed.
“These people didn’t address the FMS. They believe they could stay here unpunished and even work in Russia. However, the system of the FMS knows all of them; the majority of them are citizens of CIS countries,” Romodanovsky reported.
According to him, exceeding a 120-day period of stay will be punished by a ban on entering Russia for three years, exceeding a 270-day period – for five years. “An illegal stay of more than 360 days will close Russia to the criminal for 10 years,” Interfax cited Romodanovsky.
Moreover, the head of the FMS stated that in early 2015 the FMS registered a decrease in the migration inflow to Russia of 70%. The number of migrants from Central Asia, except for Kyrgyzstan, decreased significantly. At the same time, the number of citizens of Moldova and Ukraine increased, as well as citizens of China, the Republic of Korea and North Korea.
