Day of Restoration of Independent Statehood of the Chechen Nation was celebrated in Chechnya

Yesterday in Chechnya the Day of Restoration of Independent Statehood of the Chechen Nation was celebrated.

This date is timed to coincide with the adoption by the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of the law "On the reconstruction of the Chechen-Ingush ASSR within the RSFSR", dated January 9, 1957.

Plenty of activities dedicated to the holiday took place in the capital and other cities of Chechnya. Holiday events were held in Grozny, as well as in other cities and towns in the region. The solemn meeting, dedicated to the 58th anniversary of the restoration of the Chechen-Ingush ASSR, was held in the national parliament. The Mufti of Chechnya Salah Haji Mezhiev read dua in memory of the inhabitants of Chechnya who were victims of those difficult times.

"Despite the deportation of the 20th century, the hostilities of late 90s and early 2000s, the Chechen Republic under the leadership of Ramzan Kadyrov has become one of the most prosperous regions of the country. Today, the Chechens have their own statehood, enshrined in the Constitution, own their land and they are free to practice Islam, praying in the most beautiful mosques. Today, we have everything our fathers could dream of," Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic Dukuvakha Abdurakhmanov said.
