Vershbow: NATO will not leave Georgia without assistance

NATO intends to assist Georgia in achieving its objectives, Deputy Secretary General of NATO Alexander Vershbow said at a joint press conference with Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili.

Today Vershbow plans to get acquainted with the site for the construction of a NATO training center.

"We discussed the setting up of a joint training center in Georgia. Tomorrow I will visit one of the places where may be placed this center. Georgia and we are committed to the idea that the center should start operation before the end of the year, which will enable Georgia to improve its defense and security sector. This center will be used by other allies and NATO partners as well; because Georgia’s geography and its professional armed forces create the opportunity to hold trainings with a group of allies and partners," he said.

"This is a common effort and we will help Georgia in achieving its goals," Alexander Vershbow stressed.
