World Hijab Day is an annual event that takes place in February. The Hijab is a traditional veil or head-dress, which is particularly worn by Muslim woman.
The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation has appointed February 11th 2015 as the appeal date of citizens of the Republic of Mordovia on the decision of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Republic of Mordovia on the recognition of the part of the Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Mordavia to ban wearing headscarves in state and municipal educational institutions of the Republic of Mordovia as illegal.
In this regard, the head of the Spiritual Administration of the Russian Federation and the Russian Muftis Council, mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, sent a letter in support of girls wearing headscarfs in educational institutions to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
According to Gaynutdin, the problem of the ban on the hijab in schools goes beyond the women's issue. "Unfortunately, many of our people, who are forcibly distant from the traditions of their people and their religion in the years of state atheism, have lost the understanding of women's ethics and clothing, as part of it. Many people confuse the concept of 'hijab', 'niqab', 'scarf', 'veil'. "The Arabic word 'hijab' simply means 'cover'. And Islam does not require a special uniform for all, but there is a principle - modesty, unbleakness. There is nothing specifically or provocatively 'religious'," Gaynutdin said.
