Renowned Russian artist Kungurov gives insight into Nowruz

Russia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Iran, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and other Muslim states marked Nowruz on March 21. Moscow marked the event with a gala concert in the State Central Hall at the Luzhniki Sports Palace, organized by the Moscow Department of National Policy, Interreligious Relations and Tourism, embassies, offices of Russian regions and public organizations. Yevgeny Kungurov, a Russian opera and pop singer, Honored Artist of Chechnya and Ingushetia, a participant in the Golos (Voice) TV project, has given an insight into Nowruz in an interview with Vestnik Kavkaza.

The singer admitted that he had visited Grozny many times, been to Ingushetia, Makhachkala and other cities to perform in festivals and contests. Kungurov said that he loved the Caucasus, graceful and cultured Chechens, good-mannered Ingushetians and other peoples.

The Honored Artist expressed pity that he had not visited Azerbaijan. He was planning to take part in an international opera contest but was forced to cancel his trip due to the Golos project.

Concluding, Kungurov said that he loved to see people of different nationalities being friends. He added that only love was the promoter of all the best in the world. The singer wished everyone peace and love.
