Turkey does not rule out Kurdish militant involvement in Istanbul blast

Turkish officials do not exclude the involvement of the Kurdish Workers Party in the terrorist attack in Istanbul on Sunday, the head of Russian service of the Turkish TV channel 6news Togrul Ismail told Vestnik Kavkaza.


The expert said that the attack mainly injured police officers. Several other explosive devices were found in the area after the blast. Togrul Ismail said that it was an attempt to hinder the work of the Turkish government.


Vestnik Kavkaza reported earlier that the blast happened on Taksim Square in Istanbul near a police post. 32 people were injured, 25 of them were identified. 12 of them are police officers and 13 are civilians.


The injured police are Ilker Avat, Erkan Serbay Sygyrchy, Mustafa Aslan, Helil Keskinbychak Muzaffer, Idris Nergiz, Savash Atesh, Mehmet Kyzyltop, Saim Yamanly, Emre Yildyrym, Bilal Chalyshgan and Ahu Sunu. The conditions of Halil Keskinbychag and Muzaffer Aslan have improved.


The governor of the region, Avni Mutlu, said that the attack was carried out by a suicide bomber.


None of the radical organizations in Turkey has taken responsibility for the attack. Previous attacks in Istanbul were carried out by Kurdish separatists, struggling for independence from Turkey.
