Talk about the weakening of the US role in Georgia in the event of the
establishment of a visa-free regime between Tbilisi and Tehran has no
grounds, Georgian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nino Kalandadze
said, Trend reports.
Some experts are sceptical about the visa-free regime between Georgia
and Iran and believe that the rapprochement of Tbilisi and Iran will
irritate Washington.
Kalandadze explained that USA is a strategic partner of Georgia. Ties
with Iran are built openly and as a constant dialogue with the allies.
She said that Iran is not the only country Georgia is simplifying the
visa regime with. The flow of Iranian tourists to Georgia has doubled
recently. Georgia is interested in increasing the trade turnover with
the country by simplifying the visa regime.
